Just when you thought you'd seen the last of Cinderella for another year, Theatre64 are bringing you the opportunity to enjoy a new take on an old tale. You'll find far more of the Brothers Grimm than the pantomime dame in Timberlake Wertenbaker's "The Ash Girl". Cloaks of ash, exiled princes and a forest swarming with deadly sins keep the humour dark and the heroine on her toes.

Her father is gone and she is overworked by her scheming stepmother and her two vindictive stepsisters; the deeply unhappy Ash Girl finds no pleasure in being invited to the Ball. With some help from the Fairy of the Mirror she summons up the strength to attend, but in time-honoured fashion she loses her shoe when rushing back home as the magic fades. The Prince and his friend search for the lost girl who captured his heart. Hounded by monsters and horrified at what some will do to achieve their desires, Ashie and the Prince need their wits about them if they are to triumph.

"The Ash Girl" will be performed for four nights only at Frogmore Junior School, Green Lane, Frogmore from Wednesday 15th to Saturday 18th February at 8pm. Tickets cost £7.50 (£6.50 for concessions) and are available from www.theatre64.org, tickets@theatre64.org or (01252) 409509. Discounts are available for block bookings and Associate Members - please ask for details when booking.
