AUTUMN DOUBLE BILL FOR THEATRE64

A new play by the award-winning local playwright Matthew Wilkie will feature in Theatre64’s autumn production. Entitled ‘Girl walks into a Bar’, it won Best New Play in the annual Woking Drama Festival held in the Rhoda McGraw theatre early this month.

Written especially for the group, with a cast of four directed by Gill Richardson, this one act play has once more gained success and recognition for Theatre64. Claire Barber and Mike Hills also received nominations for Best Actress and Best Actor. This was Matthew Wilkie’s fourth win at the Woking Drama Festival with new material and he has also been recently commissioned to write an episode of Planet B airing on BBC Radio 7 in early 2011.

As a contrast, a short comedy piece by Anton Chekhov, ‘The Proposal’ directed by Andy Cruickshank, featuring three highly excitable characters, will fill the second part of the bill.

Performances of these two plays will take place at Frogmore Junior School, Green Lane, Blackwater, GU17 ONY from Thursday to Saturday, 28th, 29th, 30th October, at 8 p.m. Tickets at £6.50, or £4.50 for under 16s, can be obtained from the Box Office on 01252 409509 or by emailing tickets@theatre64.org. Discounts are available for Associate Members.

Further information on the group with details of activities and past productions can be found on the website www.theatre64.org.
