Blue Remembered Hills logo

by Dennis Potter

Originally written for TV, Dennis Potter's deceptively simple tale relates the activities of seven West-Country seven-year olds on a summer afternoon during the Second World War, in a wood, a field and a barn. The children play, fight, fantasise and swagger, and reveal their aggressions, fears, hostilities and rivalries.

Theatre64 embark on their next project with a guest director Kelly McManus. Kelly studied Directing at Middlsex University and has directed in Moscow, Thailand, Northern Ireland and across England.

"Blue Remembered Hills is a play that explores the delights of 'children at play'. It lures the audience into a false sense of security of merely obesreving the children- taking no responsibility for their actions. The paradox that Potter has created by adults playing those children-and those children playing adults forces the audience to realise the consequences of the actions that we take as adults. It is a dynamic, funny and yet heart rendering play that is worthy of exploration.

Working with Theatre 64 is going to be rewarding having seen their success from the previous productions. The enthusiaism and commitment is commendable and will ensure the play is a success!

This production will be staged in promenade, where the audience will be on the journey with the children, which will guarantee a thrilling experience! A must see....!"
