Oh! What a Lovely War
by Joan LittleWood &
The Theatre Workshop
A theatrical tour de force;’Oh! What a Lovely War’ was first performed at the Theatre Royal in 1963 by Theatre Workshop under the direction of Joan Littlewood and was acclaimed by both audiences and critics. Described as a theatrical chronicle of the horrors of the First World War, told through the songs and documents of the period, with its anti-war themes being s relevant today as they have ever been.
The production sees a company of actors all working together in a seamless ensemble to bring alive the thoughts, the memories and the histories of those who had to live through it. All these aspects are combined with a multimedia presentation to make a unique and unmissable evening of thought-provoking theatre.
